In this money-loving world where they're making Toy Story 4, I see no way that the Skywalker drama comes to an end Twisted Evil

Of course, there's always an option of cloning Luke from his severed hand...

@"saracena"You are right. I agree.

I hope this means more Star Wars movies in the future.

They should do a quiz and ask people if they want to see Kylo Ren / Adam again in the future. A bit like the TV series. They base a lot of movie about public response. Years later 2015, they will have to admit that the REYLO world is no longer a minority.

The haters, in my opinion, are less than 15 years old and write insensate things. They remind me of my son who, being a child, draws only NO-SENSE stories in which the bad guy wins or all die.

But they (Disney/Lucas) should understand that if a character dies, it is not wonderful to see his childhood or some adventure in the middle. It would be nice instead a Kylo saga similar to Raven.
You know how many movies and video games could do ...

Returning to Episode IX:
The thing I want most to see is an Happy End in which KYLO / BEN lives, gets married with Rey and also remains in command of the galaxy as Emperor. (A true fair tale )

The thing I don't like is definitely a Titanic ending ... (I've already sunk with that ship and I broke other shipwrecks) or a final in which both die to save the galaxy.

Fingers crossed Reylos ... K/Queen

Kylo is in fact the most popular character in the ST, an certainly the most interesting. I actually found him more fascinating than Han Solo - who I felt in love with at 12!
The thing about Kylo is he is totally unpredictable - and that s what makes him a joy to watch.

“American film director J.J. Abrams, who kick started the new era of Star Wars with The Force Awakens in 2015, is currently helming the exciting conclusion to the Skywalker saga-- Star Wars: Episode IX. Abrams chose Jordan's Wadi Rum and Shakriah landscape as an exotic, epic locale for a galaxy far far away.

“Wadi Rum is breathtakingly beautiful and the perfect location for our film," says Abrams. "I feel extremely fortunate to have been able to shoot in Jordan. Between the warm welcome from the government and the dedication and hard work of the local film professionals, we couldn’t have had a better experience. We are enormously grateful. “

Producer Kathleen Kennedy said “I also want to thank the Royal Film Commission Jordan, and the Army, whose tremendous support has been invaluable, and helped make this shoot possible.”

Star Wars: Episode IX benefitted from the Jordan Film Incentive Programme, which provides cash rebate on expenses in the Kingdom. During the three-week shoot the production worked with more than 250 Jordanian crew across every department including camera, costume, creatures, special effects and stunts. The Jordanian Army also provided logistical support that was key to the success of the shoot.

"The unique timeless and diverse landscape of Jordan, along with its highly motivated production crews, makes it an ideal destination for filming. Having the latest episode of Star Wars shot here is a true testament to that. As a lifelong fan, it is a great honor! May the force be with you!" - HRH Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners – The Royal Film Commission – Jordan.

Star Wars: Episode IX includes returning cast members Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo, and Billie Lourd, with veteran Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, and Billy Dee Williams also appearing in the saga’s final chapter.”

What a great find! Thanks Riri!

Have we heard anything more about filming at Rest and Be Thankful in Scotland?
I found this today (this article was published 3 January 2018)- http://www.thelocationguide.com/2018/01/rian-johnsons-new-star-wars-trilogy-to-film-in-scotland/#
it says RJ's new trilogy will be filming June 2018 but that seems to have not come to pass - does that suggest that maybe the filming was for IX?
Anyone able to shed light on this?

@Chris24601 wrote:Ben HAS to live or Han’s sacrifice, Luke’s sacrifice, Leia’s asking Han to find their son... heck, the entire nine-film saga... will have all been for nothing.

Instead it would be the tale of how the Force wrecked the galaxy by creating the Skywalker line and how many people had to die in the failed attempt to make it amount to something.

The most devastating though I think in this regard would be Leia’s role in Han’s death; Han didn’t have to die. He could have left, blown the charges and fled along with Chewie, Rey and Finn to the Falcon and escaped. But Leia asked him to try and save their son. So he walked out onto a catwalk to confront the most powerful Force-user the galaxy has ever seen... and died as a result. If Ben is not redeemed and does not live then Leia got Han killed for nothing.

Even more it makes Han’s dying act of forgiving his son pointless. His son does not change and dies as the same monster who killed him. Han died as a foolish old man... for nothing.

It would be an absolute abrogation of everything the entire franchise has ever stood for. A complete embrace of abject nihilism where once it embodied the triumph of hope against all hope.

I cannot imagine JJ, KK nor anyone up the chain at Disney would EVER misread the series so badly as to let that happen.

Re: Episode IX: Spoilers and Rumors

Post by giaciak2 on Wed 28 Nov 2018, 9:45 am

Hello,
I was always trying to write my Fan Fiction and looking for new elaborations I was considering how to describe the connection between the father the son and the daughter of Mortis and how this can connect with Ben and Rey.

So while I was looking for inspiration, suddenly this thing came to my mind.

My English is not good. The topic is complex. I think it would be better if someone else explains it. However, I am sending you the Wikipedia page in English.

It is not a spoiler. I don’t know where to put it.  I hope the moderators decide where to place it and do it for me. I will able to make change only tomorrow.

Premise:
More I analyze these theories and more I am amazed by George Lucas.

I have always been aware that George Lucas had set Star Wars as an Arturian version narrated in space, I had always known that among his theories there are Masonic and Kabbalistic concepts even if everything seems, at least apparently, inspired to oriental religions.

I had also read that Lucas himself was an esoteric, but now that I have connected all the plots, I think he definitely went beyond the simple theory and I see many connections with the Gnostic Genesis.

To put it simply, I'm suspecting that the Force is the Perfect Aeon (God), Snoke, according to me, was an older being (I'm writing this chapter and I will tell you more about my research if you want to know) that coincides with the Demiurge (Satan in the Christian -Jewish conception), while the son and the daughter represent the second and third Aeons: the male Caen (Greek for Power) and the female Akhana (Truth, Love).

If it were to go in this direction, I wonder if Rey and Ben, for Lucas, are the son and daughter of Mortis and therefore the reincarnation of the first Aeons (who died before Anakin and Ahsoka on the planet Mortis) or the Knights Templars who they have to defend knowledge ... I'm pushing too far ... I could talk for hours about this, but I don’t want bored you.

But if this were my theory on Anakin it would be right. If you read here (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnosticismo_cristiano ) * you understand the whole plot I'm trying to build ... but with my limited expressive abilities and the transposition on Star Wars Anakin was the chose one again… the Perfect Aeon like the father.

In my opinion, the worlds portal will serve Kylo to save Rey ... (Reverse Anidala) but he will need the help of the Perfect One for change the past and save her. Everything is written in the explanation of the Gnostic Genesis. But of course it is not to be excluded that I have too much imagination.

* I'm sorry, the two pages (Italian and English) are different. I don't find the same page in English. I hope someone who knows English better than me will can help. The part to search is the Gnostic Creation and the destiny of Sophia.

Re: Episode IX: Spoilers and Rumors

Post by Chris24601 on Wed 28 Nov 2018, 11:56 am

@Dar-ren19
Feel free to quote away.

As an exercise in the line of thought I presented about the story being nothing but the Force wrecking the galaxy by adding Skywalkers to it, I think it would be interesting to sit down and plot out just how the galaxy would have been different had Anakin never been born.

For example, no Anakin means Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Padme would have been stuck on Tatooine longer with two effects. The first would be that Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan would not have had the option of running when Darth Maul appeared and without those force fields on Naboo to split them Maul would not get the chance to fight and kill Qui-Gon one-on-one without Obi-Wan's interference. Maul could very well die in the sands of Tatooine and Palpatine loses his primary emissary to the Trade Federation.

Likewise, it would mean Padme would not make it to Coruscant in time to be useful for Palpatine's push for a vote of no-confidence in the current Chancellor. He NEEDED someone other than himself to make the call (because if he did, the Senate would see it as a naked political move and he'd have been much less likely to win the vote to replace the Chancellor... he needed the impassioned young queen to make the call so that he could swing the sympathy vote in his favor).

Maybe Naboo is lost to the Trade Federation in the process of all this (Anakin never destroys the Droid Control Ship), but Palpatine never becomes Chancellor and must seek out a new apprentice with an eye not towards starting a war to cement his power, but to make another attempt at becoming Chancellor. Likewise, without the prospect of Anakin on the horizon, Palpatine would be extremely unlikely to choose someone like Dooku as his apprentice (Palpatine always intended Dooku to be an interim apprentice while grooming Anakin).

Palpatine could very easily see the opportunities that allowed him to become ruler of the galaxy slip away with a less worthy apprentice to succeed him and end up just another anecdotal Sith Lord mentioned as an object lesson by a Master to an Apprentice a hundred years later down the line when conditions are again ripe for another attempt.

And that's just possible fallout within the confines of the week or so that the Phantom Menace occurred in.

Re: Episode IX: Spoilers and Rumors

@Chris24601

I've always felt that Anakin was an essentially good person that almost foiled Palpatine's plan, and eventually did. However, during the Clone Wars, I feel like the Jedi Order had lost its way, embraced war and taking kids from their parents for training, and gotten too involved with politics. Anakin saw something wrong in this and was very confused and hurt by events in his life, so he wasn't quite able to navigate through. Perhaps, if Anakin hadn't been discovered, Palpatine would have nevertheless become Chancellor eventually, had his war, and perhaps vanquished the Jedi without Obi-wan and Yoda surviving, or certainly without Luke Skywalker being a factor 18 years down the road.

In the OT, Luke obviously helps reverse the damage Palpatine has caused. However, in the ST we see that the damage is not reversed, the solution (the New Republic and the new Jedi Order) is flawed, and, like Anakin before him, Ben Solo seems something amiss and tries to navigate through it. I'm not sure if he necessarily has to live, but he has to navigate through successfully this time, in a way that is just and right.

Have a look in our crack discussion thread . I found it on Reddit this morning and posted the Reddit post there but didn’t think it was true . If MSW believe it to be so they must have reason to believe it ie maybe they’ve seen merchandise. Gosh can’t believe Adam
Is going back into the helmet even though it’s altered . Hopefully it’s just for one scene or so as it would be a crime to cover his face for the whole film when he’s so expressive and such a good actor . Sad

Just adding the link in a postscript ( edited post ) / looks like it’s true everyone.

Maybe he just wears it briefly in the beginning to get the FO to take him seriously as their leader, and then marketing can show him in it suggesting he’s beyond redemption, throwing us all off? Nope

MSW has actual sources, and they are often right, but not always. Sometimes they are deliberately misled. Remember the KoR stuff in TLJ everyone believed, including them? TFA was the movie that took Kylo's mask off halfway through, not just TLJ, so I'm not especially concerned.

I agree with that interpretation, it could represent his instability and conflict. I think I'd be worried if he wore a brand new mask.

I wouldn't hate a mask in a few scenes but I think it's a waste if he wears it too much since Adam is such a great actor and shows so much just with his expressions. But Kylo regressing at the start wouldn't be that surprising.

It wouldn't be surprising if the first few scenes had him with a mask again. After what happened to him at the end, he'll revert back to his closed off, insecure state. Does take away from the intense smashing scene though. Maybe he realizes he is just a child in a mask and there's nothing else left to him. Regardless, def. coming off soon after!

A source reported Kylo is seen in a mask again. This doesn’t tell us much- could be maybe:
A flashback scene,
A force vision scene,
A dream,
Someone impersonating Kylo (lol)
A Kylo decoy (call back to granny Padmé!)
-any other ideas?

I don’t see the mask as featuring heavily, but it makes sense it will be seen in some way.. it is iconic now.
I’m going with the flow- IX is gonna be great!

There is no way they are going to do that. This is Disney, and more importantly, this is Star Wars. Ben/Kylo is officially the leader of the First Order and is known as this terrifying masked figure— I’m not surprised that they might consider him wearing it again to step into that role. But the person behind it has changed irrevocably. I wouldn’t freak out.

Good grief this is like the David Kamp pull quote “No romance” levels of hysteria over nothing. Do people seriously think that the climax of a heavily guarded film would get dropped in a marketing meeting? Double for “we got trolled by the Ireland location shoot and am now getting fed management vetted crumbs for the TV show?” fan site as a reasonable source?

I wonder if we are going to see the scene from Rey's Force vision in TFA where she confronts the figures in the mask and Kylo saves her - as he wears the mask in that scene?
Because at the present I honestly can't see a logical reason why Kylo would once again don a mask after rejecting it so thoroughly in TLJ.
